I've been DJing for
the past 15 years, and during this time I have always kept in mind that
there are only really two types of music: good and bad. With this in mind, I have always been very adaptable, playing out across a wide selection of genres including: Indie/Alternative, Punk/Rock/Metal, Breakbeat, Big Beat, Drum 'n' Bass and House. To the result that I am one of the biggest Indie/Alternative DJs in the country, regularly DJing across the UK. Over the years I’ve had the great pleasure of playing alongside a number of fine folk including: Mark Ronson, Zane Lowe (Radio 1/MTV2), Lily Allen, Mike Davis (Radio 1), Eddy Temple-Morris (Xfm), Pendulum, The Scratch Perverts, Freestylers (Matt Cantor), Nick "Grimmy" Grimshaw, Ian Watkins (The Lost Prophets), Fingathing, Snow Patrol, Roni Size Reprazent, Bloc Party, The Fratellis, The Futureheads, Electric 6, Zutons, Therapy? OK GO, The Subways, Embrace, Editors, Hard-Fi, Mickey Finn, High Contrast, Lemon Jelly, Andy C, Republica, Fabio & Grooverider, De La Soul, The Kings Of Leon, Clipz, Ray Keith, Mulder and John Stapleton, to name but a few. As well as DJing I have also done a fair amount of promoting. In Bristol I’ve been working, since 2000, at various venues including: Carling Academy Bristol, The Blue Mountain Club, Powerhouse/Inferno (now Clockwork), Lakota, Level, The Cooler, Po Na Na, The Mandrake Club, The Bierkeller, Panache, Club UK, Soho Bar, The Hatchet, Las Iguanas, University Of The West Of England and University Of Bristol. Before this I was DJing and promoting in and around Reading at venues like: Alleycat Live (now sadly closed), The Purple Turtle, The After Dark Club, Holy Rumes/Applejacks, TUC and Nue Valbones. Currently I am the resident DJ at some of the biggest Alternative Nights in the UK, playing to well over 5,000 people a week:

Generation X @ 02
Academy Bristol Depending where you see me play out, you will get something different. Sometimes my sets combine the latest in Indie/Alternative music with those classic anthems that we all love to sing along with; at others you will hear some of the best in crossover dance tracks from various genres including: Breakbeat, Hip Hop, Big Beat, Drum 'n' Bass, Electro-House, Dub Step as well as 60s/70s and 80s music. Why the "Remix"
part of my name? That comes from my live performances, where I mix tracks
together, moving from one track to another without stopping and keeping
the flow going. By adding dance music - The Chemical Brothers, Prodigy and Pendulum etc - to my sets reflects the open-minded nature of the modern Indie/Alternative clubber evident in the rise of "Nu-Rave" - basically Indie music with a dance edge to it. To get a further
idea of how I mix up sets across the music genres then please listen to my
"Indie Alternative Dance Beats" mixes in the
Mixes
section of this site. Asides from DJing I
also make my own music and create Mash Ups and Remixes of well known music
to use in my sets to make me stand out from the rest of the Alternative
DJs out there. I have had my Mash Ups played on Xfm by Eddy Temple Morris and James Hyman. Mark Ronson has played them on his East Village Radio Show. Zane Lowe has also played my tracks on his Home Taping Tour. And my Mash Ups have also made their way to the America radio audience where producer David X has played them on his radio show. In March 2008 I travelled to New York City to DJ at the world's number 1 Mash Up party, Bootie. The trip was great and I met loads of fun people, including the infamous A+D DJ duo. To listen to these tracks please visit www.junkpilerecordings.com where you will find a large selection of Mash Ups, Remixes and Original music. Besides music I also run Planet X, a Bristol based production collective that include Blue Toast Design and Curveball P.A.
